Website for an urban district in Vienna: Am Heidjöchl.

At Am Heidjöchl in Vienna's Donaustadt, a climate-resilient urban district for around 11,000 people is being built. OSTWERK designed and built the project website together with clavis and supports the project with print material.

A project by OSTWERK, digital agency in Vienna.

Starting point

A district that is only emerging must be explainable.

What we delivered.

  • A planning process over many years should be traceable for citizens.Website: design and implementation of the project site with mission statement, planning process, FAQs and news.
  • Future residents and the Viennese population need a central point of contact.Entry: a homepage that shows the area at a glance.
  • Mission statement, plans and participation must be prepared in an understandable way.Support: ongoing maintenance, additions and rebuilds after launch.
  • The website should fit into the brand family of the City of Vienna.Print: project newspaper, invitations, posters and campaign material in the same line.

Build

Four decisions behind the website.

  1. The homepage shows the project area as a map and clearly assigns mission statement, FAQs and news. Whoever arrives sees immediately what it is about.

  2. The mission statement comes with a plan, the four principles and short texts. Complex planning becomes readable in manageable sections.

  3. From the competition decision to detailed planning: the timeline shows what has already happened and what comes next.

  4. The website is built for mobile and desktop, because citizens inform themselves on the go as well as at the desk.

Project timeline

From the commission to ongoing support.

  1. Commission

In February 2025 work begins in a team with clavis, who deliver concept and copy.

  2. Design and implementation

OSTWERK designs the website and builds it in WordPress. At the end of April 2025 it goes online.

  3. Participation

With the public kick-off of the mission statement process in May 2025 the website becomes the place for information.

  4. Ongoing

FAQs, news, print material and a rebuild of the website in autumn 2026 keep it up to date.

Result

Am Heidjöchl has a website that makes the planning process understandable and grows with the project.

  • Website online since April 2025
  • Continuously supported and rebuilt in autumn 2026
  • Print material in the same design
  • Embedded in the city's Wien-wird-WOW family
