Reference: website for an urban development project

Website for the urban development at Westbahnhof: Mitte 15.

At the Westbahnhof in Vienna's Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus district, a sealed-off site is to become a piece of city with a large park. OSTWERK designed and built the Mitte 15 website, supports it continuously and designs the print materials for the participation.

Starting point

How do you explain competition and participation so that everyone can follow?

What we delivered.

  • The site of about 6 hectares belongs to the ÖBB and is largely sealed; it is to become a piece of city with a large park.Structure: start, competition, participation, FAQs, news and service in clear navigation.
  • An urban planning competition and several participation formats run in parallel.Clarity: the competition procedure and the timeline in plain language.
  • Residents of the 15th district need a clear point of contact.Archive: a service area with newsletters, results and downloads, also multilingual.
  • Information letters, documents and results must be easy to find, also in several languages.Maintenance: a CMS in which posts and documents are updated quickly.
  • The site should stay up to date continuously, without a developer for every change.Print: information letters, invitation card and posters in the same style.

Build

Four decisions behind the website.

  1. The homepage opens with the illustration of the site and the claim "Es geht weiter!" (It goes on!). Anyone arriving immediately understands what it is about and what happens next.

  2. A dedicated menu item explains the process and goal of the urban planning competition, so that residents understand what is happening.

  3. Information letters in several languages, participation results, press releases and background material are collected in one place.

  4. The pages are delivered statically, and the team maintains content through a headless CMS. New posts and documents are online within a short time.

Project timeline

From the brief to ongoing support.

  1. Brief

In May 2026 clavis delivers the concept, menu structure and copy for the new website.

  2. Design and build

OSTWERK designs the site in the City of Vienna look and builds it with Astro and Storyblok. In June the draft goes into acceptance.

  3. Move

The new site goes live at mitte15.at and replaces the previous project page.

  4. Support and print

Ongoing updates in the CMS, plus information letters, invitation card and posters for the kick-off on 15 September 2026.

Result

Mitte 15 has a website that makes the project understandable, stays up to date and works together with the print material.

  • Website online and continuously supported
  • Information letters, invitation card and posters in the same design
  • Kick-off on 15 September 2026 with around 250 participants (figure from the City of Vienna)
